Financial aid for international students (i.e., students who are not US citizens or permanent residents of the US) is extremely limited and is awarded on the basis of both exceptional qualifications and demonstrated need. In addition to the Freeman Asian Scholars and African Scholars, we expect to offer need-based financial assistance to approximately 25 foreign students from a pool of approximately 3,000 such applicants. As an international student, in order to receive financial aid during your years at Wesleyan, you MUST apply for financial aid and be eligible at the time that you apply for admission.

FREEMAN ASIAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM

International students applying to Wesleyan University through the Common Application or the Coalition Application through Scoir will automatically be considered for the Freeman Asian Scholarship, as long as they:

  • Are a citizen or permanent resident of The People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam.
  • Are seeking financial aid
  • Have submitted all required documentation and application materials

Please note that there is no separate application that needs to be filled out to be considered for the Freeman Asian Scholarship, and there is no other financial aid available for the students who are considered for the Scholarship. The scholarship covers the full cost of attendance at Wesleyan over a four-year course of study for up to 11 students from these countries each year.
