What Will You Do?

Alcohol Abuse

You are at a party and you notice a colleague who has already had enough to drink ordering another one..

  • Direct: Approach the colleague and begin a conversation, using "I" statements: "I'm concerned about you driving home, Roger. I hear you slurring your words. Let's sit down and have a cup of coffe and one of those sandwiches they're serving."
  • Distract: "Hey, Sallie—let's go in the other room and listen to the piano player."
  • Delegate: Ask a colleague who lives near this person—or Public Safety—to drive them home or contact their partner.
