Student Events

Society of Physics Students: The Wesleyan physics group hosts coffee hours approximately twice per month.  This is a casual event attended by undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty/staff of the physics department.  Email announcements are sent out - and a poster will be hung on the week coffee hour will occur.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  The faculty advisor is Professor George Paily, gpaily@wesleyan.edu and the student representative is Owen Dunton, odunton@wesleyan.edu.

Weekly Physics Colloquium: each week on Thursday from 11:50am - 1:10 pm, a physics colloquium is held in Exley 058.  Topics differ each week.  Come to all or any.  Check the schedule for the weekly topic.

Physics Open House:  This occurs mid-October each year.  Before you declare a major or minor, come hear about physics, meet the faculty, and tour the labs.

Welcome New Majors:  If you have just declared your major, come to this luncheon event that occurs in early April.  You will be welcomed by physics faculty and hear a presentation about your major and see how you can get involved.

Bertman Awards Celebration:  Held in early May to honor the undergraduate physics award winners.  There will be an end of the year speaker, reception, and everyone is welcome to hear the talk and celebrate with the department award winners.
