Topics to be covered will include: an overview of the evolution in attitudes toward Nature and its role in garden design; the incorporation of native plants, both wild types and “nativars,” into gardens and landscapes;  an understanding of the ways in which ecological dynamics can produce adaptable gardens requiring far less maintenance; restoration of biodiversity to domesticated landscapes and ways to create backyard habitats that support wildlife; and the latest techniques for managing lawns that provide a lush, pollinator-friendly cover without the use of toxic chemicals or unsustainable inputs of water and other resources.
