STARS Evaluation
STARS (Sustainable Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System) is a transparent, self-reporting framework developed by AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance. STARS presents a holistic and accurate opportunity to measure qualitative and quantitative information on a number of sustainability metrics and is designed to:
- Enable meaningful comparisons over time and across institutions using a common set of measurements.
- Create incentives for continual improvement toward sustainability.
- Facilitate information sharing about higher education sustainability practices and performance.
- Build a stronger, more diverse campus sustainability community.
Wesleyan's STARS Participation
Wesleyan has completed STARS evaluations every three years since 2013. STARS publishes a detailed report including all responses on the AASHE STARS website; to make the evaluation easier to understand, the Sustainability Office has created STARS reports:
- 2026 STARS Report (Gold v3.0)
- 2023 STARS Report (Gold v2.2)
- 2020 STARS Report (Silver)
- 2017 STARS Report (Silver)
- 2014 STARS Report (Silver)
Please direct questions about STARS and Wesleyan's answers/participation to Sustainability Director Jen Kleindienst. Wesleyan will release its next STARS report in early 2029.
