CAPS Operations During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Effective Monday, March 16th, 2020, CAPS will operate via telephone and online contact.  Like many university counseling centers nationwide, our primary goal is to support the health and wellbeing of our students and staff while at the same time responding to the emotional needs of our therapy clients and all Wesleyan students experiencing stress and anxiety during this challenging and uncertain time.

Our on-call clinical providers continue to be available for students experiencing acute distress and who need to speak with a clinician immediately.  To connect with the on-call clinician, students should call (860) 685-2910.  During business hours, students should let the CAPS administrative assistant know they need to be connected to an on-call clinician.  During the evenings and weekends, students should follow the prompts to reach the on-call service.

Students who are actively working with a CAPS clinician can request phone support via email.  All staff email addresses can be found under the staff tab of this webpage.  Students who are actively working with a CAPS clinician and have received permission to remain on campus, or who reside in Connecticut, may request ongoing therapy via telemental health.  CAPS online therapy will be activated on or before April 1st, 2020.

We continue to abide by college, state, and federal guidelines, and any changes to our procedures will be posted here on our web site.  You may also contact your individual therapist at their regular Wesleyan email with questions or concerns.

Welcome to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)!

CAPS provides comprehensive short-term mental health services through multidisciplinary integration with Davison Health Center and WesWell. Students who utilize our psychotherapy services may discuss in confidence any worries, distressing feelings, or difficult situations they are currently experiencing. Our goal is to assist students as they navigate through life's challenges within the context of a highly rigorous and demanding academic environment.

On this site you will find valuable resources for students, faculty and staff, including information on how to schedule an appointment with a counselor, how to get help in an emergency, and useful resources on various mental health topics.
