What do you love about Wesleyan?

As someone who went to college at Wesleyan and then began my career here, I’ve spent nearly eight years on this campus. As a student, I loved the open curriculum and interdisciplinary programs that gave me the freedom to follow my curiosity wherever it led. Wesleyan has a way of encouraging students to look at the world through different lenses, unbound by preconceived constraints. That mindset of questioning, exploring, and reimagining is one of the most powerful tools I took away from my time as a student.

As a staff member, what I love most is the culture that students bring to campus. More than just coming here to learn, students take on social responsibility, push for change, and help cultivate a community that is genuinely diverse and inclusive. There’s a spirit of independence and conviction that feels unique to Wesleyan, and it’s inspiring to see how the institution nurtures that year after year.

What inspires you?

What inspires me most is the constant learning that comes with this work. Just like Wesleyan’s liberal arts education, the investment office offers exposure to different flavors of asset classes and geographies across the finance world. You’re not trained to be a narrow specialist in any one area; instead, you’re encouraged to stay curious, to keep learning, and to challenge your assumptions as the world changes. I love that I get to follow global trends, hear how exceptional managers are thinking about opportunities, and piece together different perspectives into a broader view.

On top of that, there’s something deeply meaningful about working for my alma mater and supporting the endowment. Every decision we make has a direct connection back to Wesleyan’s students, whether it’s helping to fund scholarships, expand academic programs, or ensure that more people have access to a Wesleyan education. Knowing that our work today can open doors for future generations is both humbling and inspiring.
