• Sophia Chen

Sophia joined the Investments Office in July 2025 after graduating from Wesleyan. At Wesleyan, she double majored in Economics and Psychology. As a student, Sophia was a barista and manager at Espwesso, Wesleyan’s student-run cafe, a teaching assistant for the economics department, a research assistant for Professor Negrete’s Community-engaged Adolescent Research for Equity (CARE) Lab, and a volunteer for Wesleyan Food Rescue. Sophia is from Tampa, Florida. While she misses the Florida beaches and her friends and family at home, she’s grown to love having real seasons in CT—especially the fall foliage.

What do you love about Wesleyan?

I love that there is no limit to the things you can do at Wesleyan. Whether it’s exploring new classes through the open curriculum, joining one of the many student organizations at Wes, or even just watching a movie you’ve never seen before at the Film Series, there is so much to do and something for everyone.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the WIO’s mission to support the endowment and ensure that the university can continue to grow and thrive in perpetuity. Specifically, it is meaningful to me that, by supporting financial aid, our work can help make Wesleyan possible for an increasing number of students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
