ELECTION DAY INFORMATION

Tuesday, November 4 - Municipal Election

On Tuesday, November 4th, there will be a Municipal Election in Middletown. Below you will find a guide to how to participate in the election. 

 

REGISTRATION

Not sure if you're registered to vote in CT, or of your polling location?

Please note that your polling location will appear if you are registered to vote in CT. If not, you will have to go to City Hall for same day registration and to vote.

 

Eligibility

  • be a U.S. Citizen
  • be a resident of a Connecticut town (as a Wesleyan student, you are considered a Middletown resident)
  • be at least 18 years of age on or before the next election
  • have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a felony and have had your voting rights restored by Registrar

 

Same Day Registration

Connecticut offers Election Day Registration (EDR). If you are not yet registered, you may register and vote in person on the same day in the lobby of City Hall at 245 DeKoven Drive. Election Day Registration will be open on Tuesday, November 4th from 6am-8pm. To facilitate the registration process, please bring a completed Voter Registration form, your voter verification letter, and appropriate identification. You can read more about the process here.

POLLING LOCATIONS

Polling locations are based on your physical campus address. If you are registered to vote in Middletown, most (but not all) Wesleyan Students will vote at American Legion Hall, 58 Bernie O'Rourke Drive in Middletown. 

If you are not registered to vote in CT you will need to go to City Hall to do same day registration and vote.

 

GET PREPARED

What You Need to Bring: In order to vote, eligible students need to present their voter verification letter and identification to election officials on Election Day. 

  • Voter Verification Letter
      • Wesleyan students need to present a voter verification letter to election officials on Election Day. This letter serves as address verification through confirming your physical campus address. You may either display a printed or electronic copy of this letter (through logging in and pulling it up on a device). 
        • Students who have registered to vote in Middletown may use this letter to verify their Middletown address at their designated polling station.
        • Students who wish to participate in Election Day Registration in Middletown may use this letter to verify their Middletown address at City Hall.
      • Your letter is available via WesPortal>My Information>Voter Verification Letter.
  • Voter Identification
    • Drivers' license, WesID, utility bill, paycheck or other ID needed (Read more about Identification Requirements here).
      • Note: Your WesID qualifies as a valid photo ID. You do not need a driver's license. 

Get to know the issues and candidates: Take time to familiarize yourself with the candidates and ballot questions before heading to the polls.

 

TRANSPORTATION TO POLLING SITES

If you need a ride to the polls, a shuttle will be provided in two shifts – 10:00 am-1:00 pm and 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4th. The shuttle will be leaving from USDAN, 45 Wyllys Ave and will make a loop to polling locations and back every 20-30 minutes. 

Drivers will ask students to confirm their polling location via a QR code as they enter the vehicle. You can also confirm your polling location here and have it pulled up already to save time.
