Affording Wesleyan

Here are the two most important things for you to know about financial aid at Wesleyan. For first-year applicants your family's financial circumstances will have no impact whatsoever on your chance for admission. It's that simple. And Wesleyan meets the full demonstrated need of those who enroll.

That means you do not have to be wealthy or even well off, as the sample packages show. We are committed to helping you receive a Wesleyan education without incurring unmanageable need-based debt. In 2009-10, our students received financial aid awards ranging from $3,500 to $53,000. These students came from families with annual incomes between $0 and $255,000.

Beginning with the entering class in 2008, Wesleyan has eliminated loans in favor of outright grants for most students with a family income below $40,000.

If you are worried about cost, let us show you how a Wesleyan education can be surprisingly manageable.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I'm not sure I qualify for aid. Should I submit the forms anyway?

Yes. No first year US citizen or Permanent Resident is put at a disadvantage by applying for aid.

Is there any way I can get a preliminary idea about how much I would be expected to contribute?

Yes. Wesleyan recommends the College Board Institutional Method family contribution estimator. Click here for the College Board estimator.
