Applying to Wesleyan

Do the questions interest you as much as the answers? Do you tend to see unexpected connections between the things you are studying? Have you demonstrated a desire to study broadly across the curriculum? Do you show enthusiasm for acting collectively?

If you answered yes to these questions, you are the kind of student we at Wesleyan are looking for. We are a community of “productive idealists” – we seek to educate students to discover what they love to do and then to get better at it. Our students dive deeply into subjects, are passionate about what they do both inside and outside of the classroom, think across disciplines, and want to engage with and make change in the world around them. There is no formula for admission to Wesleyan.

The Admission Committee looks at all parts of your application for the story it tells about your achievements and your potential to contribute to Wesleyan and to benefit from the educational opportunities we provide. We want to see demonstrations of genuine intellectual curiosity, the ability to succeed in a rigorous and broad-based academic program, and demonstrated social involvement. We look at all of these things in each student’s school context and want to see that you are taking advantage of the opportunities that have been provided to you.

Wesleyan students, each day, both in and out of the classroom, take risks, push boundaries, and go beyond their own comfort zones. This is an exhilarating, busy, and energetic community, and we hope that you will consider applying to join us.
