HOMETOWN:
|
Chicago, IL |
HIGH SCHOOL:
|
Lincoln Park |
MAJOR:
|
Religion |
THESIS:
|
I am interested
in writing a senior essay about
the rise of secularism in the
Western world and how it has
effected the classification of
non-western religions across the
globe. |
ACTIVITIES:
|
I am involved
in the
Jewish community helping in
various ways including
organizing an Adult Bnei Mitzvah
program (students who did not
have a bar or bat mitzvah can
have one at Wes). I am
involved in the
Interfaith Justice League (IJL).
This year we opened a program
house that will function as a
space for discussions on
religion and spirituality on
campus. I help organize the
Fast-a-Than for Ramadan. I am
hoping to choreograph or dance
in a student production this
semester. |
OUTSIDE
WESLEYAN:
|
During the
summer, I work at a summer camp.
This past year I created a
program where younger counselors
are mentored by older
counselors. I have also been
deeply involved in Interfaith
Youth Core, a non-profit
organization. |
AFTER
WESLEYAN:
|
I hope to travel for the year.
I would like to go to South East
Asia or return to the location
of my
semester abroad in Durban,
South Africa. Eventually I
am interested in working on a
college campus helping
university chaplains become more
able to create interfaith spaces
as well as attract interfaith
applicants. |
FAV WES EXPERIENCE:
|
I enjoy walking away from a
class with a classmate or
professor or both and continuing
the discussion sparked by that
course's topics and ideas. I
also enjoy it when this
discussion comes over dinner or
in the evenings with friends who
have other majors. We can
sit together making connections
between ideas and jokes about
our classes while teaching each
other. |
