As students begin making summer plans, we ask that they that remember all residential units (including program houses) must be vacated and keys turned in by Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. Only graduating seniors and students who have been pre-approved by the Office of Residential Life can remain in their rooms after Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. Students who have not been pre-approved or guests of pre-approved students are not permitted in University Residences, including apartments and wood frame houses. Unapproved students will be asked to leave campus and will be fined and may be referred to the Student Judicial Board.
Students who do not check out of their rooms will incur a late check-out fine of $200.00, and may also incur additional per diem charges until they vacate their rooms. To be considered checked out, all items must be removed from residence and the keys returned to Residence Life before 1 p.m. The fee will be charged for anytime over 1 p.m. There is no longer the flexibility of a grace period since the time was moved later.
It is important that students vacate their residences on time so Physical Plant staff can start repairing and cleaning the Reunion and Commencement residences (Bennet, Clark, and Hewitt) and rooms can be cleaned and repaired for students that have to tranistion to other rooms. We tranistion over 200 students working for Reunion and Commencement/summer housing participants and it is important that people leave on time so we can prepare these rooms.
Reunion and Commencement Week
Housing is available beyond Saturday, May 17, 2014 if the student will be living in University summer housing (excludes fraternities and societies) or is employed by the University for reunion and commencement.
*Students working on research who are not living on-campus for the summer are not eligible for housing during Reunion and Commencement week.
Students who need to stay for Reunion and Commencement week and are not working for University Relations, need to complete a Transition Housing application (available later this semester) by Friday, April 25, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. Please note that applying for an extension does not guarantee the application will be approved. Only extenuating circumstances will be considered and students will be notified via email the week of May 9, 2014. Housing extensions will not be granted for academic extensions after the closing deadline.
Students living in the Clark, Bennet Hall, Hewitt and Program Houses will be required to relocate if approved to stay beyond May 17th. For more information about transition housing, please visit our website at http://www.wesleyan.edu/reslife/summer_housing/transition_housing.html.
Graduating seniors, including those living in Program Houses, are automatically approved to stay in their current housing assignment until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014 and do not have to submit an application.
All students who work for Reunion and Commencement week need to move out of their residence by 4:30 p.m. on May 26, 2014.
Students who are transitioning to University summer housing or Summer Session I housing will move to their new assignment on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 after 4 p.m. Since we do not have the facilities to store items, we are not able to accommodate requests to move in prior to that time.
The University no longer offers storage at Long Lane. For a list of local storage providers, please visit the following website: http://www.wesleyan.edu/physicalplant/student-storage.html. Two companies that pick up and deliver are New England Student Services and Martin's Movers
