Public Safety is equipped with battery packs that enable officers to assist motorists with dead batteries. Public Safety is often successful in these attempts or can assist with additional contact information if further assistance is necessary. 

Due to the increasing complexity of newer motor vehicles, Public Safety will only jump start only gas/diesel vehicles that we can jump from the battery itself.  Hybrid vehicles, EV's and vehicles with "jump terminals" will no longer be jump started by Public Safety.

Due to concerns over side curtain air bags, Public Safety will no longer perform motor vehicle lockouts.

If you are locked out, or need a jump start on a vehicle that Public Safety cannot service, we can still respond!  We can offer alternative providers, provide transport to somewhere safe, etc until the situation is rectified.  We recommend that people on campus enroll in a roadside assistance program, often available through the dealerships or 3rd party vendors such as AAA.
