Meet Sister Marwa
Assalaamu Alaykum readers and welcome! Chaplain Marwa Aly has
been serving as the Muslim chaplain at Wesleyan University since the Fall of
2008. She graduated with high honors from Fordham University with a double BA
in Philosophy and Middle Eastern Studies and received her Masters from the
Hartford Seminary in Islamic studies and Christian-Muslim relations.
As the chaplain, Marwa provides pastoral care from an Islamic perspective and is always willing to lend an attentive ear. She actively works as the advisor for the Muslim Students’ Association and is also advisor of the Turath Program House.
Chaplain Aly holds weekly study circles with a focus on various Islamic subjects, ranging from current events to reflecting on verses from the Qur’an.
Chaplain Aly has a keen interest in pursuing personal development and focusing on her students’ religious and spiritual growth. She blogs semi-regularly at www.marwaaly.com and enjoys spending time with her students and young family.
