Get ready for wes online Orientation

• All incoming undergraduate F-1 visa status international students and self-identifying international students, including U.S. citizens from abroad, dual citizens, and legal permanent residents, are invited to and expected to attend ISO. There is no cost to attend ISO. 
• All incoming undergraduate international students attending ISO must arrive at Wesleyan to check in for ISO and move into their campus housing during the two-day arrival period, which will be Friday, August 23 - Saturday, August 24. There will be free shuttles from Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford, Connecticut to the Wesleyan campus for incoming international students who arrive during the two-day arrival period. Please see our Traveling to Wesleyan webpage for more information about getting to campus from BDL and other regional airports.   
• Sunday, August 25 is a settle-in day for ISO participants. The ISO staff will provide a chaperoned shopping trip to a local store in the morning during which time you can purchase school and dorm room supplies.  
• ISO is a two-day program that runs Monday, August 26 - Tuesday, August 27. Participants will be guided by their International Student Orientation Leaders (ISOLs) and are required to attend all sessions. 
• You are welcome to bring your parents and/or other family members with you to campus for arrival period, settle-in day, and ISO. There will be some campus events for parents and family members on the first day of ISO, Monday, August 26, including a breakfast social in the morning and a dinner in the evening. If you plan to bring your parents and/or other family members with you to Wesleyan, you must include their information when you complete and submit your ISO Student Registration Form in WesPortal by Friday, July 19. OISA will send you pre-arrival newsletters beginning in June, which will include guidance on how to access and complete your ISO Student Registration Form in WesPortal.

• This year The Wesleyan Writing Center and the Office of International Student Affairs will debut our new resource webpage! Everything from packing suggestions to what to expect when writing your first paper will be there and resources you can use throughout your time at Wesleyan. Please watch for more information in July. Once classes begin, live sessions to supplement the webpage will be offered too.

Visit WesNest to begin to learn about student life and the close to 300 clubs and organizations at Wes. The Orientation schedule will be posted here as well. Once you have your Wesleyan credentials you will have more access to the site. However, you can still begin to search for organizations and activities you are interested in and connect directly with student organization leaders. WesNest is our campus social organizer where you can learn more about campus life and student organizations. It is convenient to have WesNest available on your mobile device. Download Corq the WesNest mobile app. This is a quick and easy way to view the orientation schedule and find events on campus in the future!

• Learn more about housing for first-year students on the Res Life website
• Housing applications will be available in the New Student Checklist and Resources sections of WesPortal in early June.
• Complete the online application with your preferred housing options before the system closes at 5 p.m. EST on Sunday, June 30th, 2024.
• Students requiring an accommodation need to submit documentation to Accessibility Services by June 30th.
• Housing assignments will be posted through WesPortal in mid-August.

• Vaccine/Immunizations: All incoming students must upload official  immunization records by July 5 via our Student Health Portal  (Medicat) which you can access via the “Get Ready for Wes Online Orientation” platform. You can find requirements, instructions and forms to download for immunization/health compliance on our webpage. 
  • Make sure your records show compliance with MMR (mumps, measles, rubella),Varicella (chicken pox), and updated Meningitis vaccination, as well as Tuberculosis screening.  We strongly recommend you are up to date with Covid and Flu vaccines.
• Forms: You must complete and submit 4 forms on the Student Health Portal.  
• Health Insurance:  All Wesleyan students are required to have health insurance.  Once you have your Wesleyan login credentials, all students must login to the Gallagher Student Health Portal to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan.  
  • All students who have not taken action will be charged for the Student Health Insurance plan the first week in July; charges will be reversed for those who waive coverage by August 15.
• Completed immunization records, health forms and enrollment/waiver in the student health insurance plan must be on file with the Davison Health Center before you can register for classes.

• International students will be scheduled to see a nurse as part of International Student Orientation to review immunization records.
• Parents are welcome to visit the Davison Health Center or contact us by phone, but students over 18 years of age are entitled to full medical information privacy protection. The Health Center can discuss details of evaluation or treatment only with the student’s signed consent.

• WesPortal is a secure system that allows students online access to their course schedule, grades, academic history, student accounts, Moodle (a web-based tool for sharing course assignments and materials), and more. You will be sent a WesPortal account in early June.
• The ITS student helpdesk provides phone and on-site technical support for student computing issues.
• Wireless network access is provided throughout campus. Residence halls, upperclassman housing in wood frames, and program housing have wireless-only connectivity to the Wesleyan network on Eduroam.
• Cardinal Service Center (CSC) is located in Exley Science Center and offers computer repair services for both Apple and PC computers: (860) 685-2700

• The Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore is located on Main Street in Middletown. RJ Julia Booksellers provides students with all of their course materials, apparel, gifts, and school supplies. Follow them on Instagram @wesrjjulia for up to date information.
• The Campus Store in the Usdan University Center is a second location of the RJ Julia Bookstore. They carry technology, apparel, school, and dorm supplies. They are an Apple Authorized Campus Store, but they also sell Dell and Windows computers/accessories. Follow them on Instagram @wescampusstore to learn about Apple's back-to-school promotion as soon as it's announced.
• Both stores accept Middletown Cash and Student Account for payment! Place an order online for items from either store at www.wesleyanrjjulia.com. Home shipping or in-store pick up available at both locations. 
• The Campus Store is conveniently located in Usdan for arrival day pick up! This summer, place an online order for your bedding, computer, dorm essentials, school supplies, and Wesleyan gear, and it will be ready for quick pick up when you get to campus! If you start unpacking and realize you forgot your toothbrush or computer charger, stop by anytime to get all your essentials.    

• You need to upload a 2x2", front facial photo of yourself, without wearing sunglasses or a hat, and not using filters, to be used on your WesCard by July 1. The photo can be uploaded in the Get Ready For Wes Online Orientation & Resources.
• You can pick up your WesCard on Arrival Day when you check in for Orientation.
• You can also choose to load your WesCard with Middletown Cash, an optional debit account that you can use on and off campus for various retail items such as books and supplies at RJ Julia Bookstore or at the Campus Store, at Usdan, and also for services such as mailing, vending, and dining out.

• Student Accounts issues electronic statements each semester for tuition, student activity fee, and food and housing fees. 
• The first statement of the academic year is sent in July and is payable within 30 days. When statements are ready to be viewed online, an email will be sent to your Wesleyan email address and to your Authorized Users. (You can set up your parents, guardians, or others as Authorized Users through your online student account.. 
• Students and Authorized Users can make payments via e-check, personal check or money order, 529 college savings plan, international wire (for families outside the U.S.), or direct bank wire. For direct bank wire instructions, contact student-accounts@wesleyan.edu.
• Wesleyan University does not accept payment by cash nor debit or credit card.

• Wesleyan offers interest-free, 5-month payment plans to allow families to finance each semester of university costs. Each semester, there is a $45 enrollment fee; no interest is charged. • You must submit final transcripts to the Office of Admission NO LATER THAN JULY 1.
• First-year students: Ask your secondary school counselor to submit your final transcript electronically through the Common Application website (Final Report Form), Slate.org, or via email to applicant@wesleyan.edu, or mail to Office of Admission, Wesleyan University, 70 Wyllys Avenue, Middletown, CT 06459.
• Transfer students: Request that your current institution send a final transcript to Wesleyan’s Office of Admission.

• If you have not submitted official test scores, you will be required to do so before you arrive on campus this fall.
• All ACT, SAT, and/or SAT subject test scores (if taken) must be submitted.
• Contact the appropriate testing service to have official score reports sent to Wesleyan University (our ACT code is 0614; our SAT code is 3959).
