WesWAVES Student Advisory Committee

Are you interested in being on the WesWAVES advisory committee for the 2025-2025 Academic year? Please reach out to Anika (adane@wesleyan.edu).

Student representatives of various departments in science and math are tasked with supporting connections across the campus and with the wider community.

Academics

The AY24-25 committee began a project documenting and researching the academic trajectory of underrepresented students in the natural sciences and mathematics majors here at Wesleyan. They presented to faculty in May and July of 2025 and we intend to present to individual departments this year. The project is ongoing and continues to expand.

Research

WesWAVES is committed to removing barriers that deny equal opportunity for all interested individuals to study science and math. Please visit the CIS research resources page for more information on getting started with research at Wesleyan, our Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CUREs) initiative, our research fairs, and opportunities off campus.

Community

Science is collaborative and integrative. We engage students across disciplines and departments and in collaboration with university programs to create a shared community of researchers on campus. Recognizing that scientific literacy is crucial for a thriving society, our students also actively work to inspire curiosity and foster a love for discovery, particularly among local K-12 students. Finally, the WesWAVES advisory committee is available to students to discuss experiences in classes and labs, provide valuable guidance, and steer students toward resources.
