Cultural Awareness

Bafa Bafa Cultural Awareness Activity 
This interactive simulation helps participants become aware of how profoundly cultural differences can impact the behavior of people in an organization. They will explore how stereotypes and barriers are developed and misunderstandings magnified.  During facilitated reflection, participants process the experience by practicing healthy dialogue.

Course-cased Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) Phil Arevalo

CUREs offer undergraduate students greater access to research, enhance their confidence and skills, and improve persistence in science and medicine. CUREs also allow faculty integrate teaching and research, and identify, recruit, and train students to join their research labs. Prof. Phil Arevalo runs this workshop for faculty interested in integrating CUREs into existing or new courses. Learn about the benefits, workshop the process, and discuss ideas for specific courses or potential projects.

Underrepresented Students in STEM WAVES

Late last semester, students from WesWIS and WesWAVES shared a presentation on the experiences of underrepresented students in STEM. Join us July 8 to revisit the presentation and participate in a discussion on the students' work and suggestions. All faculty are invited to attend whether you viewed the presentation or not.
