Theme 4. Broaden access for and diversity of international students, faculty and visiting scholars, and staff; foster a campus environment in which all can thrive
The goals we have currently identified as parts of this internationalization theme are listed below. For details on specific activities connected to each goal that have been completed, are underway, or are planned, please see this theme's section of the Internationalization Dashboard.
- 4.1 Promote increased geographic and economic diversity in our international student population, and strengthen Wesleyan’s competitive advantage globally
- Broaden eligibility for Wesleyan's international student scholarship programs
- Increase consistency of outreach and engagement with UWC partner schools
- Increase visibility in the Americas and strengthening our presence in neighboring regional markets
- Continue to leverage opportunities for collaboration in recruitment, to reach a wider audience, collaborating with other on-campus departments & organizations like peer schools for outreach
- 4.2 – Further improve non-academic support for international and multilingual undergraduate and graduate students
- Improve transition support
- Improve peer-to-peer engagement
- 4.3 – Further improve academic support for international and multilingual undergraduate and graduate students
- Facilitate communication among the Writing Center, OISA, and other partners on campus
- Draw on ISAB and surveys to gauge needs
- 4.4 – Further improve support for international faculty and staff members
- Use WIN gatherings and surveys to gauge needs, keeping in mind changing immigration landscape
- 4.5 – Continue support for the Wesleyan Scholars at Risk program
- Continue our support for the New University in Exile Consortium
- Routinize hosting one scholar each year with support from the Scholar Rescue Fund
