Theme 6. Build attention to comprehensive internationalization into our governance and institutional structure
The goals we have currently identified as parts of this internationalization theme are listed below. For details on specific activities connected to each goal that have been completed, are underway, or are planned, please see this theme's section of the Internationalization Dashboard.
- 6.1 – Continue to prioritize internationalization in strategic plans
- Work with Deans and Provosts on the role of internationalization in the Academic Affairs Strategic Plan
- 6.2 – Empower the FCGS Director to report regularly to Cabinet and to the Trustees on progress toward achieving these internationalization goals
- Identify the best time for annual reporting to each group
- 6.3 – Improve support, visibility, and voice of area studies units (especially standalone minors)
- Survey area studies units annually to gauge needs
- 6.4 – Create structure to ensure that international efforts—especially travel—by administrative offices across campus support one another where possible, and are mutually reinforcing with Academic Affairs’ goals
- Develop an annual calendar of meetings for International Coordination Group, including role for regular Working Group meetings and periodic Executive Group meetings
- Develop a shared calendar of international travel plans for the President, Provost, Admissions, Advancement, as well as relevant faculty travel
- Explore funding for additional travel
- 6.5 – Continue to seek recognition and external grant support for internationalization
- Consider application for Paul Simon award or similar recognition
- 6.6 – Regularly assess progress towards internationalization goals
- Issue an annual report on progress
