Holidays
Wesleyan provides the following paid holidays each calendar year. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the holiday will be observed the preceding Friday; when it falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed the following Monday. 2024 university holidays

• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving
• Day after Thanksgiving
• Christmas Day*
*The days immediately before or immediately after Christmas and New Year’s may also be designated, accounting for two more days.
If a holiday falls on a day when an employee is not scheduled to work, the employee is not paid for the holiday. Example: An employee who is not scheduled to work during the summer months will not receive pay for the July 4th holiday.
Administrative staff and bargaining unit staff are given three floating holidays upon hire that may be used to observe other religious or civic occasions, as well as for other purposes. Approval must be obtained in advance from an employee’s supervisor to schedule a floating holiday. Floating holidays not taken during the calendar year are forfeited.
