Whenever you travel 100 miles or more from home for personal reasons—to another country or just another city—for less than 90 days, be sure to pack your worldwide travel assistance phone number! Travel assistance services, provided through Assist America, can help you locate hospitals, embassies, and other "unexpected" travel destinations. Just one phone call connects you and your family to medical and other important services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Expatriate/Extended Travel Program (Employee-Paid)
If you are traveling more than 100 miles from home for more than 90 days for personal reasons, you can purchase extended coverage through the Expatriate/Extended Program. This coverage complies with J-1 Visa Requirements.
The Expatriate/Extended Program is available for an annual fee of $80 per individual or $120 per family. This program period coincides with the effective dates of your insurance policy, regardless of when you enroll. The program is not prorated. |
To register, complete the enrollment form on the Assist America website at www.assistamerica.com/Expatriate and enter your Assist America reference number (01-AA-UN-762490) to activate the program. U.S. Domestic Business Travel Assistance
Assist America will also cover U.S. Domestic Business Travel, when you travel 100 miles or more from home for less than 90 days. Travel assistance services, provided through Assist America, can help you locate hospitals, embassies, and other "unexpected" travel destinations. Just one phone call connects you and your family to medical and other important services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
International Business Travel Assistance
Beginning July 1, 2026, the university is partnering with BCBS Global Solutions to provide international business travel coverage. This coverage will replace previous coverage offered through ISOS, Cigna, and Lloyd’s.
To ensure you’re fully prepared before traveling outside the U.S., please complete the steps below.
1. Register for Your BCBS Global Tools (Do This First)
- Go to bcbsglobalsolutions.com and click Login/Register or register through the mobile app
- Enter your Group Access Code (GTB9999WESBK)
- You only need to register once (not per trip)
- Install the BCBS Global Solutions mobile app before departure
- Download your digital ID card from the app or Member Portal
- Save it on your phone and consider printing a copy
- Use Provider Finder → International Provider Search in the app
- Review provider profiles and contact details
- Tip: Look for 'Preferred Provider' designation when possible
- Schedule your appointment
- Submit a Direct Pay request in the app or portal
- Request at least 48 hours before care
- Complete the Scholastic Pre-Departure Flyer - Wesleyan University
- Submit it to BCBS Global prior to your trip
- Available 24/7 worldwide through the BCBS Global app
- Accessible by phone or video
- Go immediately to the nearest hospital or doctor
- Then contact BCBS using the number on your ID card
- Political evacuation and natural disaster evacuation services require pre-approval
- These services will be coordinated by BCBS Global in partnership with Crisis24
- Do not arrange evacuation services independently; you will not be reimbursed
- Download the claim form from the app or portal
- Complete the form and attach receipts
- Submit via email, fax, or mail
- Safety alerts

Quick Checklist Before Departure

- Add your trip details to the Travel Reporting application on WesPortal before your departure date.
