Open Enrollment for 2023 benefits begins on November 1, 2022. 

The 2023 Benefits Enrollment Guide provides an overview of the University’s benefit options, premiums and highlights changes for the 2023 plan year.  A complete overview of University benefits for all eligible employees including plan documents is also available online here.

The menu for 2023 Open Enrollment is in WesPortal under the “My Information” heading and labeled “Open Enroll 2023.” If you are connecting to the network from an off-campus location, you will need VPN to access your Open Enrollment pages.  Please use this link to view details on how to connect via VPN.

High Deductible Plan & Health Saving Accounts Information Session
Denise White-Patterson will explain the advantages of participating in a High-Deductible Health Plan, which allows you to contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HSA is a unique tax-advantaged account that can be used to pay for current or future healthcare expenses. When combined with a high-deductible health plan, it offers savings and tax advantages that a traditional health plan can't duplicate.  Denise will also reveiw improvements to the HSA contributions for 2023.

  • Medical payroll contributions are increasing 2%, however dental, vision and life insurance rates are not increasing for 2023 
  • All participants in the HDHP will receive an employer contribution to their health savings account, whether or not they contribute their own pre-tax dollars to the account 
  • Wesleyan HSA contributions for employee plus child(ren), employee plus spouse and family will increase to $1,000Employee only will remain at $500. 
  • The funding of Wesleyan’s contribution to your HSA will take place on or as soon after January 1, 2023 as possible for funds to be available at the beginning of the plan year. 
  • One breast ultrasound will be covered at 100% in-network per calendar year, whether your provider codes it as diagnostic or preventive.  However, in the HDHP plan, the deductible will need to be met first for diagnostic testing to be covered at 100% (in-network only), as only preventive visits can be covered before the deductible as required by IRS regulations 
  • We will be introducing a new Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider to be effective January 1, 2023.  Final selection of the vendor is in process.

25% of unused dental balances for you and your dependents will automatically roll over to 2023 as long as you used less than 50% of your benefit maximum and received preventive treatment in 2022.
